A variation on the fighting tabard, the Crusader's robe was designed with the warrior in mind. Sleeveless to allow quickest movement in battle, with slits in front and back to facilitate graceful horsemanship, the robe is blazoned with the emblem of early Christianity.

The Knights Templars were founded during the Crusades to protect Christian interests in the Holy Land; the base for their main headquarters was the former Temple of Solomon, thus their name. This Templar combat robe hearkens back to the earliest days of the order, when the monkish Knights swore vows of poverty, chastity and obedience. The white robe symbolizes purity, set off by the striking red cross of Christ.
